Barwani: Three traders can go to jail for not returning Rs 22 lakh to farmers

Barwani (Rep. of New Zealand). On Tuesday, the matter of non-payment of Rs 33 lakh for vegetable purchase by three traders from farmers reached the SDM. The traders gave only Rs 11 lakh to the farmers. On the other hand, SDM Ghanshyam Dhangar has given a stern warning to three traders of Talwara elders and directed them to return the remaining amount to buy vegetables from the farmers by next Tuesday. Failure to do so, the three traders have been warned to send them to jail under sections 420 and 151 including bail.

According to the incident, three traders of Talwara elders, Kamal Badrilal Choel, Hemant Badrilal Choel and Vinod Gopal Kag had bought vegetables worth about Rs 33 lakh from 21 farmers of the village, but did not pay them as promised. On this, the farmers had lodged a complaint with the SDM Barwani on March 9 last. At that time, the concerned traders appeared before the SDM and assured to return the said amount in 15 days, but only Rs 11 lakh was paid to the farmers without returning the amount as promised. On this, the delegation of the said farmers again reached the SDM and lodged a complaint on Tuesday. On this, the SDM has called the concerned traders and with mutual consent has given them the time to return the remaining Rs 22 lakh to the farmers on the next Tuesday. Failure to do so has threatened to send the three traders to jail. Members of the farmers’ union were also present during this.

Special Judge inspected the Central Jail

Paralegal Volunteer Anita Choyal told about how the prisoners can get rescue and free advocate from Corona. Jail Superintendent DS Apart, Deputy Superintendent SB Sharan, Assistant Jail Superintendent DK Pagare, Vinay Kabra and Arjun Parmar from Legal Services Authority were present in the camp.
