The drinking water supply of the first Gurunanak ward was interrupted. Here half an hour or sometimes 20 minutes with less force was supplied. There is a drinking water problem in more than a dozen wards of the city.
From April 1, the municipal corporation has supplied drinking water for a time. Citizens told that tax is being collected both time. The water of the Katni river is low. This is causing problems to the people of the city. The problem of drinking water in the suburban area including the city is getting a formidable form, and the officers and district administration, including the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Satyendra Dhakre, are not paying attention to it.
According to the information, the city needs 38 to 40 MLD (mln liter per day) of drinking water. The Municipal Corporation is able to supply only 20 to 22 MLD of drinking water. There are 57 thousand families in the city. In such a situation, a person needs 135 LPCD of drinking water 24 hours a day. Initiatives have been in place since 2016, work on the Narmada Development Authority’s plan to bring water to Katni river has not started yet.
