Ujjain (AboutGyan Representative). Ujjain-Dewas-Indore rail route doubling work is expected to gain momentum once again. Railways has set a target to complete the doubling work from Kadcha to Bijana station in Dewas. For this, Rs 100 crore has been sought from the headquarters. It is expected to be approved in a day or two.

Let us inform that recently, GM of Western Railway, Alok Kansal has written a letter to the Railway Board to include this work in Vision 2024. Officials say that good signals have been received from the headquarters in this regard. At the same time, the contractor has also started the work of bridge-culvert on this route. It is noteworthy that in the annual budget of 2016-17, the Ministry of Railways had announced the doubling of Indore-Ujjain route. Apart from civil works, the expenditure of Signaling Department, TRD Department, Electric Power Department and other departments were included in the work to be done at a cost of Rs 650 crore. The work was started in the year 2017-18. In December 2020, the work of 15 km between Ujjain to Kadcha was completed. Its Commissioner Railway Safety (CSR) had inspected and allowed the operation of trains. In the budget this year, only one thousand rupees was released for the Ujjain-Dewas-Indore rail route. After this, the work going on between Kadcha to Dewas was stopped by the contractor. However, the work of the culvert was still going on. Only 65 km of work is left between Kadcha to Dewas.

Railways has prepared a road map named Vision 2024. There are 10 steps to be completed in this. Alok Kansal, General Manager, Western Railway has written a letter to the Chairman, Railway Board to include the Ujjain-Dewas-Indore rail route doubling work as an important work of the Railways in Vision 2024. GM says that the work of doubling of Ujjain-Dewas-Indore section is also very important work. Railway will be greatly benefited by its completion. The Ujjain-Indore section is the most heavily used section. This includes Manglia village, Laxmibai Nagar and the busiest commercial areas of Dewas. Ujjain-Indore rail section is connected by two routes Bhopal-Ujjain-Nagda and Dr.Ambedkar Nagar-Indore-Ratlam. On this route 32 pairs of passenger trains and 11 pairs of goods trains start and end daily from different regions of India. Line capacity utilization is 148%. For this reason this route was approved for doubling. Freight is higher during the season.
