After the completion of the Sardar Sarovar Project, the movement of the bridge located at Narmada Bridge in Rajghat near the district headquarters is completely banned. On the Khandwa-Vadodara highway, about one and a half kilometer long bridge has been built on the Narmada in village Chhoti Kasrawad, about five km from Barwani. The traffic on this bridge is very heavy. Despite this, there is not enough lighting on the bridge. Due to this the bridge remains dark at night. Till now no efforts have been made in this direction.
For the last two years, the Sardar Sarovar Project is being filled up to full capacity 136.600 meters. Due to this, the old bridge at Rajghat remains submerged for most of the time. The rest of the time, traffic from the bridge has been completely banned. Due to this, the entire traffic pressure is now on the big new bridge of Chhoti Kasrawad. Khandwa-Vadodara Highway along with Kukshi, Manawar, Bagh, Dahi towns of Dhar district and the people of many other villages including Dehri Nagar are in many cases the Barwani district headquarters. In such a situation, there is a lot of traffic pressure on the highway. It is probably the longest bridge in Madhya Pradesh on the Narmada River.
Suicide point is a new bridge
In the last two years, about 70 people have jumped from the Narmada Bridge at Chhoti Kasrawad in Narmada. Out of this, only a few people have been saved. This has led to a new bridge being built as a suicide point. Security resources on this bridge have been continuously demanded from various levels for many years. However, no specific initiative has been taken so far. At the same time, due to lack of adequate lighting on the bridge, people do not keep an eye on any accident or people arriving at the bridge at night.
