MUMBAI: During intensive ticket checking drives conducted in the Mumbai division of Central Railway (CR) from June 15, 2020 to January 31, 2021, 1.58 lakh cases were detected. From these, CR collected Rs 4.95 crore in penalties, said CR spokesperson Shivaji Sutar on Sunday.
Passengers were checked on both suburban and non-suburban trains. Irregularities included travelling without a ticket, misuse of the senior citizen quota, altered tickets, coloured photocopies of tickets, fake ID cards, among others.
