Indore, Naiduniya Pratinidhi, High Court Indore. Public interest litigation challenging the master plan was disposed of on Wednesday. The petitioner himself withdrew it. The petition was filed in 2016. Challenging the master plan, the petition sought a stay on its implementation. However, the court had refused to stay the implementation in 2016 itself. The final arguments in the petition were to be held on Wednesday. Even before this, the petitioner withdrew the petition.

This PIL was filed in the High Court on behalf of social activist Tapan Bhattacharya by Senior Advocate Anandmohan Mathur and Advocate Abhinav Dhanotkar. It was said that in the name of master plan, vandalism is being done everywhere in the city. The District Planning Committee has the right to prepare the master plan but the committee has not prepared any such plan. In such a situation, the question is, who prepared the master plan which is being implemented.

The city is vandalized on the occasion of festivals. Just before Diwali, the Kanadiya region was vandalized, just before Holi there was vandalism in Biyabani. Even at present, demolition is going on in many parts of the city. The petitioner had sought a stay on the implementation of the master plan. In the reply given in the petition on behalf of the government, it was said that development works worth crores are going on in the city in the name of master plan. Many works have already been completed. If the ban is imposed now, there will be a loss of crores. Before the final arguments on Wednesday, the petitioner suo motu withdrew the petition.
