Ujjain (Nai Duniya representative). In Madhya Pradesh, more than 77 thousand people die every year due to diseases caused by tobacco and other smoking products. At the same time, around thirteen and a half million people lose their lives every year across the country. On the other hand, smokers are also at high risk of the global epidemic corona.

Dr. Naresh Purohit, Advisor, National Cancer Control Program, told that on the occasion of World Tobacco Prohibition Day, due to this, 8 million people die every year in the world. He said that smokers are also at higher risk of corona infection, because they frequently put cigarettes and bidis in the mouth. The lung capacity of smokers also decreases, which increases the chance of death by several folds when infection occurs.

Shocking figures

Dr. Purohit said that 300 children in the state and 5500 children in the country start consuming tobacco products every day. Youth over 15 years of age currently use tobacco in one form or another. The number of such adults is around 27 crore. Dr. Purohit said that after smoking cigarette, its smoke reduces the good cholesterol in the body and increases the amount of bad cholesterol. This increases the risk of heart attack.
