Bhopal News: NIFT director begins investigation on allegations of sexual harassment by female officer
Bhopal (Navdunia Representative). The female director of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has accused the institute’s director of sexual harassment. He has sent an 11-page complaint to the Director General of NIFT. In this, he has accused the director Subroto Biswas that the director tried to have a physical relationship with him, when he denied it, he was wrongly demoted and reduced the salary. After about eight days, the headquarters has set up an inquiry on this complaint made on May 20 and a report has been sought from the committee set up for investigation in seven days. The director’s side is yet to be found in this matter.
Incorrectly built hostel in hostel and asked to stay the night
The woman officer has said in the complaint that the director wrongly built a guest house in the hostel of the institute in December and started staying there and told me that you too stay in the hostel at night. Due to the Corona epidemic, there is not a single girl student in the hostel at the moment. It is noteworthy that Subroto Biswas has been posted at NIFT, Bhopal since July 2020.
Demand for removal from office
The woman officer has demanded the Director General of NIFT to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter and immediately transfer the director for an impartial inquiry.

Senior Professor Sharmila Dua of NIFT Mumbai has been appointed as the chairman of the committee in the case. Currently, the committee will take statements of the complainant and other witnesses online. The committee will also interrogate director Subroto Biswas.

The file of complaint against the director of NIFT, Bhopal came four days ago. According to the law on the complaint, the Internal Complaints Committee has been given the responsibility to investigate the matter. Report has been sought in seven days. Suggestions have also been sought from the committee on the transfer of the director, a decision may be taken to attach the headquarters soon.
