After the horrific train accident in Orissa, where questions are being raised on the safety and accident relief system of Indian Railways across the country, on Saturday A tree suddenly fell in front of a goods train on the Itarsi-Mumbai down track at night. According to sources, the OHE line of the railway was damaged in the accident, the branches of the thick tree got entangled in the over-high tension line (OHE), later from Itarsi. The line was made smooth by sending tower wagons. On the spot, the crew alerted and applied brakes immediately, due to which no accident took place. Here, after the accident, the operation of about half a dozen passenger trains on the Itarsi-Mumbai down track was affected. According to sources, the accident took place at around 9 o’clock, when suddenly a tree fell in front of the engine of goods train N box going from Itarsi to Mumbai route, strong thunderstorm and rain continued in the region on Saturday night, it is feared that the tree fell in the storm itself. It broke and fell on the engine. Minor damage to engine and OHE line due to fallen tree.
