The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved to increase the interval between the two doses of the Kovishield vaccine from 6 to 8 weeks to 12 to 16 weeks. The National Technical Advisory Group has been recommended to increase the duration of the gap between the two doses of the coviciled vaccine. The interval between the two doses of covaxine vaccine will be 28 to 42 days as before. There has been no change in the duration of covaccine. Online or on-site appointments for covishield vaccines will now be accepted only after a minimum period of 84 days from the date of first vaccination. Registrations of beneficiaries who have already been registered will not be canceled. Vaccination of 18 to 44 years of age will be through registration. Those whose registration will be confirmed, will receive information through SMS. On-the-spot vaccination will not be done without registration.
