School buses older than 15 years are running on the roads

Bina (Navdunia News). Rules are being ignored in school bus operation. Most of the buses operated by the big schools in the area 01 are more than a year old. There is no emergency gate in the buses. Safety standards are also being ignored. The lives of school children are being played with in the operation of buses.

Parents of children use auto, magic or van to reach most of the schools in the area. There are four or five schools which also have bus facility. The school management ignores the rules in the operation of these buses. Navdunia tried to know whether the necessary rules for the operation of buses are being followed or not. Buses are used occasionally at Nirmal Jyoti Convent School, Gomti Nandan Public School, Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Pavitra Hriday Church School, Jaypee School and one or two other schools. Some buses have a manufacturing date 2001, while according to the Transport Department Year old buses should not be used. These buses are being used by painting. The seating capacity in the buses is 01 but 28 more children are seated. Parents say that we pay full for the transportation of children, but the school management should take care of the rules.

Teachers do not travel with children

Rule that it is necessary to have a teacher with children in school buses. Barring Saraswati Shishu Mandir, this rule is not followed by any other school. It is mandatory to have a female teacher or conductor with the girl students, but here only the driver on the buses does the work of transporting the children. Parents have already lodged a complaint in this regard, but due to the negligence of the responsible department including education officers, the school management is arbitrarily doing it.

Neither CCTV cameras, nor fire extinguishers

Buses should have CCTV cameras as per rules. So that the activities inside and outside the buses can be recorded. But it is not so here. The buses are not fitted with CCTV cameras nor are fire extinguishers used for fire control. Former BEO HD Goswami says that I had also corresponded many times in this regard. But some private schools do their own thing. If you stop from here, then they come with permission from the district.

buses are operated on contract

some buses are operated by the school management itself. But most of the buses are being run on the contract system. For example, the bus operator brings a condom bus from anywhere and attaches it to the private schools here on the permit of the school bus. For this, he also gives money to the school management and collects huge amount from the parents for transportation. During the checking campaign, they refuse to take the children, citing disturbances in the buses. Due to which action cannot be taken against them.

What parents say

There should be regular checking regarding other arrangements of private schools including school buses. Apart from Police and Transport Department, officers of Education Department and Revenue Department should also be involved in this campaign. Only then things can improve.
